By visiting our site or purchasing from us, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy, Shipping Policy, and Refunds & Returns Policy (collectively, the “Policies”).

Australian Consumer Law (ACL): Nothing in these Terms limits your rights and remedies under the ACL.

2. Eligibility & Use

You agree to use this website and our products responsibly and only for lawful purposes. You may not use our products or site to violate any laws in your jurisdiction.

Our products are designed for personal reflection and wellbeing purposes only. They are not a substitute for therapy, psychological treatment, or professional advice.

By using this site or purchasing our products, you acknowledge that:

  • The Self Compass Journal and any future products are a reflective and self-guided tool.

  • The Self Compass Society and Meera Lakhani are not liable for any outcomes, interpretations, or personal decisions made as a result of engaging with our materials.

3. Store Terms & Accounts

  • You are responsible for keeping your account and order details accurate.

  • We reserve the right to refuse service, cancel orders, or terminate accounts if misuse or fraudulent activity is suspected.

4. Product Information & Availability

  • We take reasonable care to ensure accurate product information and imagery, though minor variations in colour, texture, or finish may occur.

  • Products are subject to availability. We may change or discontinue products or prices at any time without notice.

5. Pricing, Taxes & Payments

  • All prices are listed in AUD and include GST where applicable.

  • Shipping charges are shown at checkout.

  • International customers are responsible for any customs fees or taxes applicable in their country.

  • Payments are processed securely through Shopify and associated payment providers.

6. Orders & Acceptance

All orders are subject to acceptance and availability. We reserve the right to cancel or refuse any order for reasons including product errors, stock issues, or suspected fraud.
If your order is cancelled after payment, you will receive a full refund.

7. Shipping & Delivery

  • Australia: Flat rate $10 AUD via tracked post (3–7 business days).

  • International (excluding USA): Flat rate $30 AUD via tracked post (7–21 business days).

  • We do not ship to the United States due to import tariffs.

  • Orders are processed within 2–3 business days. During high-volume periods, dispatch may take longer.

8. Returns, Exchanges & Refunds

  • Due to the reflective and personal nature of our journal, returns and exchanges are not accepted once the protective wrapping has been removed, except where required by Australian Consumer Law.

  • If your item arrives damaged, faulty, or incorrect, contact us within 3 days of delivery with your order number and photos.

  • Where a product is deemed faulty, we will offer a replacement, repair, or refund in line with ACL requirements.

9. Intellectual Property

All content on this site, including the Self Compass name, logo, journal design, text, graphics, and photographs is owned by or licensed to The Self Compass Society and is protected by intellectual-property laws.

You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works from our content or materials without written permission.

10. Personal Reflection & Liability Disclaimer

Our journals, prompts, and written content are created to support self-reflection, personal growth, and wellbeing. They are not a substitute for professional advice, therapy, or medical treatment.

By using our products, you acknowledge that:

  • You engage with all exercises, reflections, and prompts at your own discretion.

  • The Self Compass Society and Meera Lakhani are not responsible or liable for any mental, emotional, physical, or financial outcomes resulting from use of our products or website.

  • If you are experiencing distress, crisis, or mental health concerns, please seek support from a qualified health professional.

11. User Content & Feedback

If you submit reviews, ideas, or feedback, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use, share, and display this content for promotional or operational purposes.

12. Prohibited Uses

  • Use the website or products for unlawful or harmful purposes;

  • Infringe upon our intellectual property rights;

  • Transmit malicious code or interfere with site functionality;

  • Harvest or misuse customer data.

13. Third-Party Services

Our store is hosted on Shopify. We are not responsible for the content, policies, or security of third-party services linked from our site (including payment gateways or social media platforms).

14. Limitation of Liability

Except as required by law, The Self Compass Society and Meera Lakhani are not liable for:

  • Any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages;

  • Loss of data, income, goodwill, or opportunity;

  • How any person interprets or applies journal prompts or written content.

Where liability cannot be excluded under Australian law, it is limited to:

  • The replacement or repair of the product, or

  • A refund of the purchase price, at our discretion.

15. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold The Self Compass Society harmless from any claims, losses, or expenses arising from your use of our products or breach of these Terms.

16. Privacy & Data Protection

Your personal information is managed according to our Privacy Policy. We take reasonable measures to secure your data but cannot guarantee absolute security of online transmissions.

17. Force Majeure

We are not liable for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as natural disasters, transport issues, or government restrictions.

18. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use of our website or products after changes are published indicates acceptance of the updated Terms.
